Breaking Ground

Unprecedented Innovation

The design and construction industries haven’t changed much in 40 years, and our current wildfire crisis has laid bare their weaknesses. Thousands of homeowners are waiting two to three years to move into their new homes, if they can even afford to rebuild at all. For many wildfire survivors, it is only after spending tens of thousands of dollars in fees that they finally receive their actual budget – only to realize that they may not be able afford to rebuild their home after all. We are here to change that!

PHNX Development has removed many of the obstacles in what should be a straightforward, easy and exciting process. The award-winning team at PHNX Development has taken design build into the 21st century. For the first time, architect and builder work to innovate together. Built on decades of experience, the PHNX team is equipped as both a California registered architect and California licensed contractor. They have identified opportunities in the design build process to reduce time and cost to the home owner, making sure the path to your new home is attainable and effortless.

The PHNX home design process delivers a custom, site-built home that is fully adaptable to your property and your lifestyle. Beginning with three base components – kitchen, great room and master suite – we mix and match to add or remove sections. Bedroom suites, an office/den, a dining room and more can be combined in unique ways to create an infinite variety of custom floor plans.

Component Based Design utilizes fast and efficient building processes and materials that are adaptable and innovative. Wild fluctuations in material and labor costs that plague traditional builds are not a factor in the PHNX design build process.

Our Component Based Design manufacturers provide the core structural elements in a PHNX home, and are able to provide hard cost estimates early in the design process to set a clear budget ahead of time. To learn more about this process, check out our blog post here.

Traditional wood framing design is notoriously inconsistent and in today’s market the price of lumber is constantly increasing. A PHNX home contains no structural wood, period. Not only will it not burn, but it won’t rot or fall victim to pests or termites. Our insulated concrete walls are straight and smooth.

With ICF construction, there are only three components – concrete, rebar and EPS foam. The concepts are simple and predictable, and the plasticity of concrete gives us a wide range of design flexibility.

Long-standing relationships enable the PHNX team to specify an attractive array of notable, quality and industry leading materials – no cheap knock-offs. This saves you money by working smarter, not by cutting corners on quality.

Innovation and cutting edge technology has come a long way. With PHNX you are building the most durable and energy-efficient home possible.

Relying on our decades of combined experience and established industry relationships, our team has successfully identified many opportunities for streamlining the process. Communication and coordination is at the heart of the PHNX method.

Architect and builder work together to provide you with easy but versatile design choices that make sense for both aesthetics and budget. The latest in Building Information Management (BIM) technology enables us to transition seamlessly from design documents and budgeting, to construction documents and permitting.

Our BIM assets and database give us real time costing information that enable us to tailor the design to your budget right from the start.

After breaking ground, a PHNX construction site is very clean, reducing job site waste by up to 80%. Most of the waste that is generated is recycled or up-cycled. With the our 4-6 month construction schedule, we minimize the disruption to you and your neighbors.
