A New Start

Losing your home in a wildfire or natural disaster is devastating. We will rebuild your home while you focus on rebuilding your life.

Rebuilding your home with PHNX Development is a truly unique experience. PHNX Development is an unprecedented collaborative partnership between architect and builder. We are the only design build team in the state of California specializing in Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) construction & Component Based Design. Each PHNX home is a Type II non-combustible structure, net-zero, site-built and one of a kind.

With an award-winning design build team, PHNX development has created a streamlined process that dramatically reduces cost and schedule. This means we help get you in your new home within one year of project start.

By using cutting edge technology, building innovation and working with a team of trusted vendors, the PHNX team delivers more certainty throughout the entire rebuild process. It is no longer necessary to spend tens of thousands of dollars in fees before knowing how much your new home is going to cost.

Peace of Mind

Say goodbye to your electric bills, not your home.

After moving into a PHNX home, the real peace of mind sets in. All PHNX homes are built with non-combustible structural materials that don’t burn, and every home is designed to Net Zero energy specifications. This helps the home be fire resistant, but also creates a tightly sealed, highly insulated home. PHNX homes provide clean indoor air that is heated and cooled effortlessly to regulate a comfortable, healthy living environment for you and your loved ones.

Not only will you say goodbye to your electric bill, but the next time you get an evacuation order you won’t have to say goodbye to your home.

A PHNX home is non-combustible. Built with Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) construction and steel, it is classified as a Type II Non-Combustible, fire-resistant structure in full compliance with California and International building codes. Your new PHNX home retains its structural integrity and will not ignite even in a raging wildfire.

A Tesla photovoltaic array sized sufficiently to power your entire home is included in the cost of every PHNX home. State-of-the-art, all-electric appliances mean no costly gas hook-ups and no gas bills. Even our water heaters and clothes dryers use the latest heat pump technology, and are more efficient than their gas counterparts.

A PHNX home includes a fully zoned, ducted mini-split heating and cooling system. The temperature of each room can be individually controlled and maintained simultaneously.

From aluminum-clad wood windows to brand-name appliances, plumbing fixtures and equipment, a PHNX home is built to last – and we stand behind it.

PHNX specifications include brands like General Electric, Kohler, Samsung, Tesla, Sierra Pacific Windows, Viewrail Stair Systems, iSpan Composite Joist Systems, All-Weather Insulated Panels, Fox Blocks ICF, AO Smith, and Philips, just to name a few.

Breaking Ground

Unprecedented Innovation

The design and construction industries haven’t changed much in 40 years, and our current wildfire crisis has laid bare their weaknesses. Thousands of homeowners are waiting two to three years to move into their new homes, if they can even afford to rebuild at all. For many wildfire survivors, it is only after spending tens of thousands of dollars in fees that they finally receive their actual budget – only to realize that they may not be able afford to rebuild their home after all. We are here to change that!

PHNX Development has removed many of the obstacles in what should be a straightforward, easy and exciting process. The award-winning team at PHNX Development has taken design build into the 21st century. For the first time, architect and builder work to innovate together. Built on decades of experience, the PHNX team is equipped as both a California registered architect and California licensed contractor. They have identified opportunities in the design build process to reduce time and cost to the home owner, making sure the path to your new home is attainable and effortless.

The PHNX home design process delivers a custom, site-built home that is fully adaptable to your property and your lifestyle. Beginning with three base components – kitchen, great room and master suite – we mix and match to add or remove sections. Bedroom suites, an office/den, a dining room and more can be combined in unique ways to create an infinite variety of custom floor plans.

Component Based Design utilizes fast and efficient building processes and materials that are adaptable and innovative. Wild fluctuations in material and labor costs that plague traditional builds are not a factor in the PHNX design build process.

Our Component Based Design manufacturers provide the core structural elements in a PHNX home, and are able to provide hard cost estimates early in the design process to set a clear budget ahead of time. To learn more about this process, check out our blog post here.

Traditional wood framing design is notoriously inconsistent and in today’s market the price of lumber is constantly increasing. A PHNX home contains no structural wood, period. Not only will it not burn, but it won’t rot or fall victim to pests or termites. Our insulated concrete walls are straight and smooth.

With ICF construction, there are only three components – concrete, rebar and EPS foam. The concepts are simple and predictable, and the plasticity of concrete gives us a wide range of design flexibility.

Long-standing relationships enable the PHNX team to specify an attractive array of notable, quality and industry leading materials – no cheap knock-offs. This saves you money by working smarter, not by cutting corners on quality.

Innovation and cutting edge technology has come a long way. With PHNX you are building the most durable and energy-efficient home possible.

Relying on our decades of combined experience and established industry relationships, our team has successfully identified many opportunities for streamlining the process. Communication and coordination is at the heart of the PHNX method.

Architect and builder work together to provide you with easy but versatile design choices that make sense for both aesthetics and budget. The latest in Building Information Management (BIM) technology enables us to transition seamlessly from design documents and budgeting, to construction documents and permitting.

Our BIM assets and database give us real time costing information that enable us to tailor the design to your budget right from the start.

After breaking ground, a PHNX construction site is very clean, reducing job site waste by up to 80%. Most of the waste that is generated is recycled or up-cycled. With the our 4-6 month construction schedule, we minimize the disruption to you and your neighbors.

How Does PHNX Compare to Current Industry Practice?

Moving In

PHNX 1 currently under construction in Santa Clarita, California. Previous home lost in the October 2019, Tick Fire. Scheduled for completion June, 2021.

On Time and On Budget

PHNX delivers the most efficient, attainable and predictable custom site-built home available in today’s market. It is not possible to design and build a custom home in less time and/or for less money; our clients know early on how much their home is going to cost and when they can move in. PHNX Development optimizes predictability by maximizing building innovation opportunities; in doing so, we plan for our clients to move into their new home within one year of beginning the PHNX process to rebuild their home. If there are delays in the process outside of our control, we identify them early on, adapt, and remain completely transparent with realistic updates to our budget and timeline.

Although our process is new and innovative, our experience in designing and building award winning, quality, custom homes is not. Each team member brings an outstanding track record, a quality portfolio, and a passion for customer satisfaction. With four PHNX homes currently underway (as of March, 2021), we are continuing to further this track record of unmatched innovation, craftsmanship and positive client testimonials.
